Communication, conflict resolution and group dynamics have always been a passion of mine. These “people” skills are keys to success in my profession as an airline pilot. I was thrilled to be one of the first facilitators and developers of courses that honed these tools within the airline industry starting back in the 1980’s.

When I first discovered Nonviolent Communication more than 20 years ago, I saw not only another valuable path to understanding and collaboration, but a life skill that would be of great value professionally, personally and in the organizational settings that I participate in. I initially trained to be a NVC facilitator with Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of the NVC movement. Over the years I have been blessed with a variety of settings to teach, practice and utilize these skills. When presented with the opportunity to participate in a collaborative NVC study with Atlanta’s Emory University, I immediately joined the Atlanta Evaluation Team. I was eager to help provide science-based studies validating the work that has meant so much to me.

It has been exciting to help develop, coordinate and share the results of these studies. I hope their dissemination will lead to more – studies, communication and heartfelt connection throughout the world!
